The Writing
Every piece carries part of the application’s meaning.
The work begins with the student’s actual material: interests,
experiences, observations, intellectual questions, activities,
and future direction.
From that material, the writing develops a governing
interpretation and routes the strongest evidence across the
personal statement, school-specific supplements, and shorter
written responses.
Personal Statement
Governing pattern, narrative movement, interpretation,
evidence, voice, and the central impression carried forward.
Why Major
Intellectual problem, method, existing evidence, and
academic direction.
Why School
Courses, units, faculty environments, methods, and the
student’s first credible move inside the institution.
Community
Role, behavior, contribution, responsibility, and the
pattern the student brings into shared environments.
Activity Writing
Artifacts, metrics, users, responsibility, and the evidence
carried through compressed application space.
Short Responses
Precision, compression, variation, voice, and strategic use
of every available line.
